The purpose of fire sealants is to seal any small openings (up to 2-4 cm in diameter) so as to prevent a fire from traveling from a fire area/compartment to another area/compartment of a building or structure. Fire rated sealant is a type of fire-resistant material used to seal openings and joints in fire-rated barriers, (such as civil pipes, ducts, electrical cables, walls, floors, and ceilings). The purpose of firestop sealants is to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through these penetrations, maintaining the integrity of the fire-rated barrier.
